So Saturday morning, my oldest daughter (13), my sister-in-law, my 4 month old and myself went to eat breakfast before going to her softball game. We were sitting there enjoying our food on a beautiful day, when out of the blue she asks, "Why does your wenis get flabby when you are older.....babies' wenis is not flabby." After my SIL performed the Heimlich maneuver on me to dislodge the ham that I was choking on, I casually said "WHAT!!!!!!", thinking that I must have heard her wrong. (I am sure each of you can imagine what I thought she said) So she repeated it again. I asked her what in the world she was talking about and she told me that your wenis is the skin on your elbow. I told her that she made that up, and my SIL agreed that this was not correct. She insisted that this is the "scientific term" for elbow skin. We both told her that no one ever told us about this so called "scientific name" when we were in school. She then proceeded to tell us that we were just "too old" HA! I am only 29 and my SIL is a mere 23. It's not like were in school during the dark ages. I asked her if her teacher told her this and she said, "No, all my friends told me." I asked who these friends were, and among them were none other than my buddy Valarie's daughter Syd...... poor undernourished, unloved, Syd. So, I called Valarie, since she is a very hip mom, because I thought that surely if anyone would know, it would be Valarie. I call her and she laughs hysterically at me. She then asks a group of teenage girls that she is with, and guess what............They confirm that your elbow skin is called the wenis. They also agreed that their teachers told them this. Still in utter disbelief, I continued throughout the weekend to ask random children what their elbow skin is called. What did they tell me you ask? "It's your wenis."
WHAT?! Has anyone else ever heard of this? Is is ok for me to say that I hurt my wenis when I hit my elbow? Can I tell people to put some lotion on their ashy wenis? What if I see one of my girls pulling on their elbow skin? Can I yell at them to stop playing with their wenis?
I would also like to say that I have googled this term and in fact it is there, but it is considered a slang term......What are they teaching our children at school?
